Inscribed in Latin with the following Biblical verses: Et Mater eius conservabat omnia verba haec in corde suo. Luc 2:51 (And his mother kept all of these words in her heart. Luke 2:51); Et tuam ipsius animam pertransiet gladius. Luc.2.35 (And a sword shall pierce through thy soul. Luke 2:35); Positus est hic . . . in signam cui contredicitur. Luc.2.34 (This is set up . . . as a sign which shall be spoken against. Luke 2:34); Inveni quem diligit anima mea; tenui eum, nec dimittam: Cant. 39.4 (I found him who delights my soul; I held him, [and] shall not let him go. Song of Solomon 3:4)
