A Rare 1925 French couture designer Mme Jeanne Paquin, designed this flapper green lame and chiffon evening dress. Rare to find this Paquin dress outside a museums collection. Constructed with flowing panels of lame and adorned with scalloped hem, and tied streamers front and back. A slip over dress with no closures, with chiffon bodice lining with a separate waist slip. Inner band has its PAQUIN label that reads MADE IN FRANCE, PAQUIN, PARIS, LONDON, BUENOS AIRES. Stamped with date ETE 1925.

Recently deaccessioned from the Strong Museum of Rochester N.Y. and still retaining its sewn in fabric catalog identification numbered tag in inner lining armhole.

The House of Paquin was opened on the rue dela Paix in 1891 by Mme Jeanne Paquin. It was the largest fashion house in Paris with branches in London, Madrid and Buenos Aires.

CONDITION
In very good condition. No holes or repairs on lame. There is some underarm staining on inner attached bodice slip. The waist slips silk chiffon has disintegrated. The lame panels are intact with no damage. Lame ends have curled and need to be steamed to release curl.
