DESCRIPTION: A most unusual Sino-Tibetan tripod covered box fashioned from a generous double gourd, a symbol throughout the Far East of abundance. Created to hold precious objects, the embellishment of this gourd is extraordinary. Hand tooled pewter and inlaid Himalayan coral and turquoise incase the surface in an elegant design of foliate vines. Miniature stone gourds surround bats of happiness with stylized wings and animated faces who encircle two prominent characters that read Da Xi - Great Fortune. The edges of both top and bottom of the opening of the box are detailed in lotus blossom petals alternately inlaid with coral and turquoise, and the tripod feet are sculpted as miniature double gourds. Accompanied by a silk lined box.
