Description
2PCS Japanese Samurai helmet (Kabuto) and face mask (Mempo), likely Edo period (1603-1868), the Eboshi-nari Kabuto or helmet in the form of a court cap, created in iron with a thick black lacquer finish and blue silk lacing, the high sweeping crown of the helmet leading to the four layer Shikoro (neck protection) at the back and small turn backs at the front; together with a half face mask (Ressei Menpo) with stylized cheekbones, retaining tufts of moustache and beard hair, and suspending a silk laced and decorated Nodowa or throat protector.
