Amos Ferguson
(1920 - 2009) Amos Ferguson was a Bahamian folk artist known for his brightly colored Bible stories and scenes from the Bahamas. Ferguson was known for his brightly colored Bible stories and scenes from the Bahamas. Ferguson was a house painter by trade and did not become an artist until he was in his 40s. While he was telling the story, his niece approached him and told him a dream he had just had. Jesus, said the nephew, came out of the sea with the painting in his hands and said that Mr. Ferguson was wasting his talent on painting. Mr. Ferguson answered the call and painted with exterior enamel on cardboard, translated Biblical stories or stories from the Bahamas into a Caribbean visual language.
The word "In the style of" is used for a work by an unknown creator who has created a copy of a known work by that artist.
