August Specht (1849 Lauffen - 1923 Stuttgart) was a well-known German painter and illustrator. He studied under Laepple and A.Kapis. He was especially known as a first-class animalist. Like his brother Friedrich Specht, he illustrated Brehm's famous "Life of Animals".
