Description
Early post-war military-like visor cap worn by a doorman or bellman at the famous Hotel Deutscher Kaiser in Nuremberg. The cap is constructed of brown gabardine cloth, the front heavily embroidered in silver wire: 'HOTEL DEUTSCHER KAISER' above the vulkanfibre brim. Two metal chin cords are secured to the cap with pebbled buttons. Within is a gray leather sweatband, torn in a few places, with matching fabric lining. A celluloid diamond-shaped protector is wend within, covering the maker's label from 'A. Mielchen' of Munich. Size 57. The top of the cap is a bit sunned with a few light stains, else very good. The hotel was built in 1888-89 and hosted many of the dignitaries and attendees of the Nuremberg rallies held only minutes away.
