Rare poster, 37.5 x 25.5 in., issued in the name of German Gen. Alexander von Falkenhausen, seeking the arrest of two Belgian underground assassins, dated Nov. 10, 1941. The general, acting as ‘Military Commander of Northern France and Belgium’, issued this poster in German, French, and Flemish. It reads in small part: ‘NOTICE 10,000 RM REWARD! BELGIANS! FRENCH! On the night of 17-9-41, 2 members of the German security police were assassinated while doing their duty by people who remain unidentified...The security police have identified the murderers: The baker Henry TALBOOM [pictured]...The mechanic Robert LELONG [pictured]...The same night, two others assassinated Chief Rexiste GERARD...and 5 weeks earlier, industrialist SCHNOCK...criminal elements who, instigated by political terrorists, for the pleasure of killing, for the basest reasons, and for love of money committed these murders; on this occasion, they stole cash and jewelry...’ The poster also warns readers to not consider harboring the wanted men. Presented in a simple black frame. Chipping throughout with some soiling to the right edge. Accompanied by an English translation of the full poster.
