Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Sican / Lambayeque culture, ca. 750 to 1370 CE. A tall and broad drinking vessel called a kero (also a quero) with a round but stable base, a tapered cylindrical body, and an everted rim, all formed from a sheet of hammered copper-silver alloy. Scattered areas of the vessel are adorned with a thin layer of gilding that stands out against the lustrous silvery hues of the body. Size: 4.1" W x 6.25" H (10.4 cm x 15.9 cm)

Provenance: private Hawaii collection, acquired 2000 to 2010; ex-private Hans Juergen Westermann collection, Germany, acquired from 1950 to 1960s
