Lewis in full brown calf, small horse motif stamped in gilt on boards and spine, 6 spine compartments stamped in gilt, morocco spine lettering piece, gilt dentelle inners, all edges gilt. First edition in English.
Anonymous translation by Thomas Habington (or Abington) of De Excidio et Conquestu Britanniae (1567), a work by Britain's first historian, first published in 1525. Nice copy of this scarce title. STC 11895; ESTCÂ S103163;Â Lowndes, p.892.
Condition
Minor scuffs and rubbing to binding and gilt edges, bookplates to front and rear past-downs; text quite clean with just occasional foxing; very good.
