Description
1st item: Kasamatsu Shiro (Japan, 1898-1991) color woodblock print entitled Pagoda in Evening Rain and depicting a tall pagoda during a rain shower at dusk. A woman or bijin walks through the foreground and holds an umbrella, with embossing to umbrella and figure's hands. Published by Shozaburo Watanabe with the publisher's "D" seal, used 1931-1941, lower-right margin. With Shiro's seal in image, lower right. Inscribed in pencil on window mat "Original Print," "Pagoda in Rain" and "Shiro." Stamped "Made in Japan" en verso. Window mat with printed logo of Shima Art Company en verso. Housed under glass in an ebonized wood frame with gilt inset and black mat with tan reveal. Sheet: 15 1/4" H x 10 1/2" W. Plate: 14 1/4" H x 9 1/2" W. Frame: 25 3/16" H x 19 5/16" W. 2nd item: Hiroaki Takahashi, called Shotei (Japan, 1871-1945), color woodblock print entitled Moon Rising at Nokizaki and depicting a woman and child before a body of water and beneath a full moon. The reflection of the moon illuminates the water while a figure seen in silhouette leads a horse past a distant building. With delicate bokashi or block shading Published by Shozaburo Watanabe, c. 1935. Inscribed in pencil on window mat "Mother and Child Admiring for the Moon" and "Hiroaki." Stamped "Made in Japan" en verso. Window mat is from the original dealer, the Shima Art Company, New York, and is stamped "Epworth Highroad / Issue [blank]" en verso. Unframed. Sheet: 15" H x 6 5/8" W. Image: 14 3/4" H x 6 3/8" W. Note: E.T. Shima had a shop in Nashville before moving to New York in 1905. His Shima Art Company specialized in selling Japanese prints to American collectors. 3rd item: 20th c. woodblock print after Utagawa Hiroshige, also Ando Hiroshige (Japan, 1797-1858), entitled Harima Province, Maiko Beach, from Hiroshige's Famous Places in the 60-odd Provinces series. Housed under glass in a gilt and black wooden frame with green mat and red reveal. Sight: 13 1/2" H x 8 1/2" W. Frame: 10 1/2" H x 15 3/4" W. 4th item: 20th c. woodblock print after Utagawa Hiroshige, also Ando Hiroshige (Japan, 1797-1858), entitled Monkey Bridge, Kai Province, from Hiroshige's Famous Places in the 60-odd Provinces series. With old Art Lore gallery label on backing. Housed under glass in a gilt and black wooden frame with green mat and red reveal. Sight: 13 1/2" H x 8 1/2" W. Frame: 10 1/2" H x 15 3/4" 5th item: Japanese Watercolor on silk painting depicting flowers growing in a rocky landscape. Silk: 24" H x 18" W. Backing: 30" H x 21 1/2" W. Note: Silk is unmounted and backed by fragile original sales paper with note: "Painter M. Kaneko / Wafudo Co. Ltd." Mid 20th century.

Condition
1st item: Overall very good condition. Slight fading and toning throughout, with slight mat burn 1/8" into image along left and right margins. Mounted to backing with pinpoints of glue to left and right corners of sheet's upper edge. 2nd item: Even toning to sheet. 3-4th items: Excellent condition, with minor wear to frames. Not examined outside of frames. 5th item: Paper is very fragile, with tears and losses, but silk painting is in very good condition.
