Seven (7) pieces of Tennessee ephemera, including a State of Tennessee bond signed by Governor William Gannaway "Parson" Brownlow (1805-1877), an 1812 bank check signed by John Overton, four (4) pieces of obsolete TN currency, and one (1) 1860's Five Cent certificate from H.S. Thacher apothecary of Nashville. 1st item: 1867 United States of America State of Tennessee One Thousand Dollar bond note. Issued to Louisville and Nashville Railroad, January 1, 1867. Serial # 7504. Signed by Governor William G. Brownlow and Secretary of State A. J. Fletcher. Includes forty-three (43) intact coupons. 23" H x 14" W. 2nd item: John Overton signed bank check, $50 payable to John Coffee from the bank of Nashville, dated March 13th 1812, punched with "X" marks. 6 1/2" W x 2 1/4". 3rd item: 1854 Nashville Life and General Insurance Co. $1 note, Henry Clay pictured in left vignette, along with frolicking horses in center and train in lower right. 7 1/4" W 3 1/4" H. 4th item: 1854 Nashville Life and General Insurance Co. $2 note, Andrew Jackson in left vignette, wandering cows in center and laborers lower left. 7 1/4" W 3 1/4" H. 5th item: 1854 Tennessee Mechanics of Bank Memphis Five Dollar note- issued May 31st, 1854, Serial # 1360. Printed by Danforth, Wright, and Company, New York, Philadelphia, and signed by the bank president and cashier. 3 1/8" H x 7 1/4" W. 6th item: 1854 Tennessee Mechanics of Bank Memphis One Dollar note- issued May 2nd, 1854, Serial # 61. Printed by Danforth, Wright, and Company, New York, Philadelphia, and signed by the bank president and cashier. 3 1/8" H x 7 1/4" W. 7th item: 1860s H. S. Thacher Apothecary, Nashville, 5 cent certificate. 6 3/4" W x 3" H.

Condition
Bond in very good, crisp condition, slight tearing along center of folds. Insurance notes (items 3 and 4) fair circulated condition. Mechanics Bank notes (items 5 and 6) in good, circulated condition. Apothecary certificate (item 7) with tape remainders.
