Description
A lot of four vintage Russian lacquered wooden trinket boxes of rectangular and octagonal shape with hinged lids. Each item is black with a hand-painted decorative cityscape on the lid, the inside is painted red. Three Mstyora boxes depicting views of Suzdal, Uglich and Rostov Kremlin. One Kholuy box representing an Uglich landscape. Each miniature is titled underneath. Mstyora is a settlement in Vladimir Oblast and a center of local lacquer and icon-painting traditions. Kholuy is a village in Ivanovo Oblast and an iconpainting school. Russian Lacquer Miniature For Collectors, Folk Art And Decor.
