An antique US banknote, a One Dollar silver certificate. Series of 1899, variety 236, Speelman and White, in blue. Large-sized. The obverse features the bald eagle with portrait medallions of Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses Grant. Silver certificates are a type of American representative money issued between 1878 and 1964 in response to silver agitation by citizens who were angered by the Fourth Coinage Act.
