JOE MEDWICK'S 7TH HOME RUN BASEBALL OF 1939
This ball was hit in St. Louis during a 5 - 4 loss to the Brooklyn Dodgers on July 28, 1939. The ball has been penned in dark black ink with the score, the battery of "Tamulis --- Phelps" as the pitcher and catcher the home run was hit off, as well as "Cooper -- Owen" as the Cardinal battery. The Spalding logo has faded. One panel penned "Our Joe's Home Run Ball No. 7". The sweet spot penned "St. Louis - July 28th = 38'.
This great St. Louis Baseball Cardinal slugger is still to date the last National League baseball player to hit for the Triple Crown in 1937. Medwick was active in Major League Baseball from 1932-1948.
