Alain Le Yaouanc, (1940), painter, cartoonist, sculptor, poet, writer, engraver, illustrator, painter. Linked to surrealism.. Arrived in the USA in 1956, and attended school at Harmon Hall in York Harbour, Maine. During this time he executes drawings and paintings. In 1957 he had his first exhibitions: in New Britain and the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut, and the gallery Prigent in Rouen. In 1958, he took courses at the Art Students League of New York where he obtained second prize with other students for the representation of the "Luncheon Boaters”. He later built his workshop at No. 8 Amsterdam Avenue. He settled in Paris in 1965, where he continued to create collages.
