Harrison Begay's tempera, watercolor and acrylic portraits of Navajo Indian figures and other Southwest scenes are regarded as quiet and peaceful in tone. Begay served for three years in the Army during World War II, then studied with painter Gerald Curtis Delano. He began exhibiting his art work in 1946 and committed the rest of his life to his art.
