Description
STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN VIEW TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC SOUP PLATE, featuring "WINTER VIEW OF PITTSFIELD MASS", as printed to ribbon on underside, featuring a mother and child with a sizable central elm tree encircled by a fence, and a charming New England town in background, having scalloped rim. Additional marks to underside include printed American eagle with shield and "CLEWS" below, and impressed crown encircled by "CLEWS WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE". Ralph & James Clews, Cobridge, England. 1814-1834. 10 3/8" D.
