ANTIQUE GIBSON F-4 MANDOLIN WITH ORIGINAL CASE, serial number 34172, eight string, two-point asymmetrical body, spruce top with sunburst finish, original faux tortoise shell pickguard marked "PAT. MAR. 30. 09", original "The Gibson" tailpiece, and oval sound hole featuring inlay to rosette, maple sides and back with ivoroid body bindings, mahogany neck, and ebony fretboard with mother-of-pearl fret markers, headstock featuring slanted mother-of-pearl inlaid "The Gibson" logo in script lettering, original inlaid tuners, original paper label to interior with patent date dates, presented with original leather-covered hard-shell case. Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co., Kalamazoo, Michigan. Circa 1917. 26 1/2" LOA, 10" WOA.

Condition
Very good visual condition with expected usage wear and surface scratches, bridge replaced, nut possibly replaced, center fret marker with repair, repaired crack at base of neck going into the sides, repaired crack to back and side of headstock at terminal of neck, top tip of headstock with a chip to back, possibly refinished and/or having other repairs; case with moderate to heavy wear, having slight odor, handle possibly replaced.Â
