Hay (Will), Moore Marriott & Graham Moffatt Scarce copy of The Modern Boy's Film Star Album magazine, the front cover featuring Hay in costume from his most famous film "Oh Mr Porter" (1938), signed in black ink by Will Hay on the right-hand side and by Moore Marriot and Graham Moffatt across Hay's face, light handling wear and creasing, framed and glazed, 30 x 23.3cm. ***Though a comedy genius, Hay was a most arrogant and selfish person and began to resent the popularity of his two co-stars. Eventually he got so jealous he game the film studio an ultimatum: they either got rid of the co-stars or he would stop making films. The studios met his wish; though Marriott was at the end of his career, Moffatt was only in his 20's and his career never recovered. The fact that Marriott and Moffatt have signed across Hay's face is most likely a show of the growing antagonism between them.
