Jim Dine is an American artist known for his contributions to the development of Pop Art and Happenings in the 1960s. He was born on June 16, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and studied at the University of Cincinnati and the Boston Museum School. Dine's early work often featured everyday objects such as tools, clothes, and hearts, and he worked in a range of media, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography.Dine gained critical acclaim in the 1960s for his inclusion in important group exhibitions such as the New Painting of Common Objects at the Pasadena Art Museum and the Pop Art exhibition at the Sidney Janis Gallery in New York. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions around the world, and he is considered one of the most important artists of his generation. Today, Dine continues to create art in his studios in Walla Walla, Washington, and Paris, France.
