- Jan Muylle, Het Laatgotisch Beeldsnijcentrum Leuven, 1979, p. 235, X.15 and p. 236, Pl. 113,Striking is the very strong affinity of our sculpture with a pensive Christ from the Cassart-De Becker Collection marked at the underside with the Brussels wooden hammer. According to J. de Borchgrave d' Altena, other nearly identical examples are kept in private collections, including the Gasan one in Brussels. Common stylistic features are: the heavy crown of thorns, the physiognomy, the anatomy and the numerous short and angular folds of the cloack falling down over the rock. An interesting detail is the presence of a skull between the folds on ours and the one of the Cassart Collection. (view added scan)
