Near East, Holy Land, Byzantine Empire to Medieval period, ca. 10th to 14th century CE. A pair of iron vessels, a chalice cup and a bowl. The handle on the hemispherical bowl rim incorporates an openwork cross shape and was probably an oil-burning lamp or censer, perhaps in an Orthodox church. The other is a cast iron chalice with a broad disc foot and short neck attached to the conical cup - perhaps dating to the Medieval period. Size of cup: 4" W x 4.75" H (10.2 cm x 12.1 cm); bowl: 4" Diameter x 3.2" H (10.2 cm x 8.1 cm)
