DESCRIPTION: From the first flight to New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. on May 15, 1918. Addressed to steel magnate and director of the Emergency Fleet Corporation Charles M. Schwab (1862-1939). Envelope cut open at top, along with receipt stamp for 4:00pm the same day. This envelope was on the first north-to-south and first overall successful flight to complete the route, with the south-to-north flight the same day resulting in a hard landing and damaged plane shortly after takeoff.
