The Louisville, Cincinnati and Charleston Railroad, chartered in 1836, was an antebellum railroad that served the State of South Carolina and Augusta, Georgia. Robert Y. Hayne, the former governor of South Carolina, became the company's first president and worked alongside prominent board members such as John C. Calhoun and Robert Mills. The company merged with the South Carolina Canal and Railroad Company in 1844, becoming simply the South Carolina Railroad Company. It would eventually foreclose in 1881.
