Second quarter 19th century, Paris, maker's marks 'C. Balaine / No. 91 / Faubg. Du Temp.'' and ''C.B. / Double'' with an insect (Charles Balaine, active 1829 - circa 1840), further marked ''10E.'', the gadrooned acorn finial over an oval domed cover with gadrooned border over a conforming body flanked by scroll handles, raised on a spreading pedestal, 12'' H x 15'' W x 8.5'' D, est:$500/700
Condition
Provenance: with Robert Ensko, Inc. Antique Silver New York, NY. Condition: Overall good condition. General marks, scratches, rubbing and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. Several tiny dings and a shallow pea-sized indentation to finial. Bottom edge of foot with a few scattered dings and some slight separation of plate from base metal, and visible rivets. Marked to underside of base only.
