1773 "Pettie's-Island Mill... Cash Lottery" Colonial Ticket
1773-Dated Colonial Era, Lancaster County, Pennslyvania, "Pettie's-Island MILL and CASH LOTTERY:" Ticket, Plate F, Signed by John Douglas, Choice Crisp Extremely Fine.
A fresh and bright Colonial Pennsylvania 1773 Lottery Ticket with a lovely appearance and outstanding eye appeal. This ticket is boldly printed with text and border designs in vivid black on fresh bright white laid period paper and has a the signature of "Jno. Douglas" who was a member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly; a judge and resident of Salisbury township. This scarce Lottery as held for "disposing of a Mill and Land, on Pequea, in Lancaster County." Monies raised were to be used "for some Pious and Charitable uses in the Borough of Lancaster." A choice example of this rare pre-Revolutionary War Colonial lottery ticket.
