Description: "Lit de justice (bed of justice)" means a special session of the Parlement in the presence of the French king. The expression was derived from the canopy-covered royal throne in the corner of the assembly hall, reminiscent of a four-poster bed. Five cushions formed the bed, on one of which the king sat, two supported the arms, one the back and the fifth the feet. Below the richly detailed illustration is a detailed legend, inscribed within the printing plate: "Ordre de la séance du lit de justice tenu par le Roi Louis XV Ã sa majorité le 22 février 1723.".

Good condition. The image makes a very good impression. The sheet is browned and foxed due to its age, slightly creased at the corners and edges and occasionally slightly torn; vertical and horizontal fold mark.
