A New Mexican bulto of the crucified Christ
Possibly the work of Antonio Molleno (New Mexican, active ca. 1815-1845), the elongated figure depicted wearing a loincloth, secured to the cross with wood pegs, the cross surmounted by a plaque inscribed: INRI, repairs, losses.

Condition
Yellowing, crazing, scuffs, nicks, and losses to paint and gesso with corresponding overpaint commensurate with age. Most of the fingers broken; two tips retained. With repairs/restoration to ankles, feet, shoulders and hips. A break through the right hip and another crack through the center of body. A repaired break through cross. Nicks, chips and light residue to the cross.
