WW1 Lighter, British capture of Bullecourt 1917
Trench lighter
Material: Brass, copper, metal
Construction: Assembled,punched, screwed, pinned
Marks: Lens, Craonne, Bullecourt, Raux 304
Colors: Copper, brass
Features: Trench Lighter, one side is Brass depicting a Rooster (for France) with the name of the Plateau Craonne, the number 304 under the rooster, on the flip side is made of copper depicting the British Lion with the city name Lens and the commune Bullecourt. Above both the lion and rooster depicts a cannon with a crest, leaves, and flags. The lighter has a fabulous even darkening from age, working flip, screw on cap over the wick. The British troops today completed the capture of the village of Bullecourt,

History: Bullecourt is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region in France. The First Battle of Bullecourt was fought as part of the British 1917 spring offensive north and south of Arras. These operations were undertaken to support a major attack further south by the French .
