Treacy Ziegler Signed Expressionist Lithograph of Artist Proof " View of the Atlantic" Circa 2001...a celebrated American artist who portrays lugubrious landscapes, suggestive still lifes and redolent portraits of animals in paintings, prints, and sculptures. She is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Philadelphia Drawing Award (1988), Ziegler has held solo exhibitions at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University and the Arnot Art Museum.The artist is primarily known for her mono-prints, developing a laborious printing method that lends her works a satiny, saturated effect. Ziegler returns to rural landscape scenes and domestic interiors, hinting at human presence but not depicting figures directly. She also leads the art program for Prisoner Express, an educational initiative involving more than 4,000 people incarcerated in America. Since 2017, Ziegler has engaged with sculpture, including a series of paper-cast animal sculptures made from letters from prisoners. Ziegler received a master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980 and later attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. A recipient of numerous awards, including the Philadelphia Drawing Award (1988), Ziegler has held solo exhibitions at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University and the Arnot Art Museum.
