A Carrara marble console table with Verde antico top 19th century

The base possibly assembled from former fireplace mantel elements, scrolled supports on molded plinths, the fronts carved with lion heads holding garland of fruit, the sides carved with grapevine motifs.

The majority of the items from this collection were acquired or ordered by Christine O. Groves (Burton) to furnish her home, built 1922, a Colonial Revival stucco mansion located at 225 Northway, Baltimore, Maryland. The house still stands.

overall showing signs of being used outside, with grime accumulation and abraded surfaces, as well as green mildew to some recessed areas; the verde antico top with degraded or honed surface from being used outside, also with seamed construction, the seams somwhat visible, and with wood substrate to underside, the top also with break to back right-facing corner (piece detached but present); the base pieces both with chips and losses, particularly along edges, commensurate with age and use, also with surface degradation / rubbing from being used outdoors; the left facing base piece with break to front corner of top-most element (piece detached but present), the right-facing base piece with with detached top piece (fits inside but adhesive has worn away), and the scrolled support with multiple repaired breaks which are visibly filled, the breaks stable)
