Description
A large English Aesthetic Movement oak wardrobe Attributed to Richard Norman Shaw (1831-1912) & William Eden Nesfield (1835-1888), retailed by Maple & Co. (est. 1841), London, England, circa 1870

In five parts, comprised of the base, center cabinet, two flanking cabinets, and cornice; accompanied by fourteen removable shelves; with bold, stylized iron hardware, the cornice with "scattered" carved rosettes of various forms, the center cabinet with two paneled doors, the side cabinets each with two paneled doors over four graduated drawers, paneled sides, the base on straight legs; bearing applied labels inscribed, "From Maple & Co./ Limited/ London & Paris."

great condition overall, with signs of expected wear commensurate with age and use; some mild occasional darkening to surfaces, and some rubbing / minor scuffing to surface edges; the cornice with some edge wear and a couple minor chips to corners, the upper left-facing corner of the front cornice with repaired break; the interior more recently outfitted with removable shelves, including the center section of the piece, which still retains a metal clothes rack (somewhat askew); includes a bag of mounting screws and a key
