After the 1772-1774 model by Johann Joachim Kändler (German, 1706-1775), depicting Amphitrite, goddess of the sea, and surrounded by naiads, sea creatures, and putti, on a shaped base modeled with shells and nautical reliefs, composed of four parts, the two bottom sections adhered and screwed, the two upper sections detach, all parts bearing crossed swords mark in blue underglaze and inscribed mark, "No. 2," some also with impressed numeral, "144."

Condition
largely intact, with some occasional breaks to leafage and coral commensurate with age; chip / break to merman tail on left-facing side back; amphitrite's sceptre is partial replacement- the upper half replacing the former loss, the piece is loosely attached via glue; probable loss to coral issuing out of centrally located shell on base; left-central naid figure with restored arm-- a probable repair with overpainting evident, some of the retouching flaking, the hand on this arm also with restoration- evidence of retouching, especially to coral, slight loss to tip of coral
