Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Famille Rose Mille Fleur Porcelain Gourd Bottle. Potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, bulbous lower section finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, suspending a cylindrical neck, raised on short ring foot base and slightly concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in red color which contrast against famille rose design color, depicted of hundred flowers bloom covered the surface called mille fleur. The Mille Fleur decoration, meaning the thousand flowers design first appears in the late Yongzheng period becoming extremely popular in the Qianlong and was carried on throughout the subsequent Jiaqing and Daoguang periods, usually on a gilt ground. The dense millefleurs design features naturalistic blossoming peonies, chrysanthemums, hibiscus, morning glories, roses, lotus flowers, daisies, lilies and pinks amidst an abundance of foliage, the mouth rims with gilt bands, the bases and interiors often turquoise-enameled on older pieces. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed red script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Qianlong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
