Description
Late 18th/early 19th century Veigneur open-face verge pocket watch, with low-karat gold verge movement in silver case, having enamel face with Roman numerals, Arabic minutes and gilt scrolled foliate hands, movement numbered and signed ''Veigneur L'aine A. Geneve'', inside of case numbered and marked with ''GM'' under a crown, French ''swan'' silver guarantee stamped inside case, on pendant and on bow; along with outer silver case having engraved design with vase, bell and roses, and silver chain fob, with French ''swan'' silver guarantee marks. Crystal with hairline, outer case with possible repair inside, wear from age. 1-7/16''dia, face 1-1/8''dia. Fob 23-1/4''l (open). Provenance: Estate of Joseph ''Jay'' St. Mark, PhD, of Newtown, Connecticut, historian, appraiser, and collector of fine Americana.
