J. & E. Stevens, American. Mechanical bank possibly depicting Tammany Hall leader William Magear "Boss" Tweed (American, 1823-1878), ca. 1873. Marked along the sides.
One bank depicted a seated man holding a key. "His Honor" along with clovers is written along two sides. Along the back of the bank is written "Irish Relief Bank 1917." The underside with a modern plate and screws.
Each, height: 6 1/4 in x width: 3 1/2 in x depth: 4 in.

Condition
The Boss Tweed bank functions. Numerous losses to the paint and wear throughout. The trap door along the underside slides smoothly shut. The Irish Relief Bank has a modern plate screwed along the underside to keep coins in. Losses and wear throughout consistent with age and use.
