Description
Two Staffordshire Transfer-Printed Children's Alphabet Mugs, 1830-50. The first for the letters G and H, transfer-printed in black and colored in red and green, inscribed "G stands for Gander for Goose and for Gift," and "H begins Horse, whose paces are swift;" the second for the letters L and M, printed in blue and inscribed "L is for Lion - fierce in eye," and "M i [sic] for Mouse - and sly Magpie." First: H: 2.375 in., W: 2.5 in., D: 3.5 in. Second: H: 2.875 in., W: 2.75 in., D: 3.75 in.
