Thirteen gold filled pendants, amulets, and regalia pectorals (Akrafokonmu) were made in the first part of the 1900s by the Akan-speaking peoples (Ashante, Baule) in the Lagoons Region of Ghana and S.E. Côte d'Ivoire. Among the forms they take are human heads (representing ancestors), rams' heads, fish, crescents (representing the moon), and discs that serve a protective function, greatest 3.5"h x 3"w Provenance: Collection of Vanna and N. Lee Lacy (Palm Springs, California). Mr. Lacy was a prominent Hollywood producer of films, creative golden-era TV series, and iconic commercials. His collecting has spanned six decades.
