Rare Antique Ottoman Damascene Islamic Book written in Arabic calligraphy by Sheikh Muhammad Jamal al-Khatib al-Jubaili, the servant of the rhetoric at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. Medium: gold and polychrome inks on parchment paper. Lined margins in gold throughout, with script interspersed with horizontal gold bands. All encased in a leather-bound decoratively embossed cover. Size: 13.5 cms x 25 cms ( 5.5 ins x 10 ins ). This lot is part of a family heirloom collection of Dr Hassan Y K Ghaly in Saudi Arabia and the UK.
