Description

A Southwestern Native American Style Sterling Silver jewelry bolo for the bolo tie. The ring is made in the shape of a Kachina dancer, encrusted with various semi precious stones, mostly Turquoise and Coral stones, and adorned with engraved ornaments. Unknown hallmark from probably Zuni or Navajo origins, dated circa 1970s and sold in Palm Springs Ethnic Southwestern shop. Since the early 19th century the Zuni have been known for making silver and turquoise jewelry, baskets, beadwork, animal fetishes, and pottery, all of very high quality. A Kachina is a spirit being in the religious beliefs of the Pueblo peoples, Native American cultures located in the southwestern part of the United States. In the Pueblo cultures, kachina rites are practiced by the Hopi, Zuni, Hopi Tewa, and certain Keresan tribes, as well as in most Pueblo tribes in New Mexico.
