Near East / Central Asia, Mesopotamia, Sumer, ca. 2000 to 500 BCE; Turkey / Iran, Luristan culture, ca. 1400 to 800 BCE. Near East, Israel / Palestine, Judea, ca. 100 BCE to 40 CE. A collection of ancient Near Eastern pottery vessels, pottery firing tool, and a bronze coin set in a modern silver pendant. The bronze coin known as a Mite, is mentioned by name in the Bible’s New Testament, it was the smallest bronze coin in the Jewish Holy Land during this period and they do not contain "graven images" or portraits of rulers. The modern silver pendant setting and bail allows the coin to be worn on a cord or chain. The tripodal pottery support known as a stilt that was used during the firing process to prevent glaze from fusing vessels together or to the kiln, and they could be used for stacking spherical pots. This is a relatively rare pottery tool and similar ones have been found during excavations at Ur! Size of largest pot: 3.75" Diameter x 3.25" H (9.5 cm x 8.3 cm)

Chips and abrasions to pottery jars and stable fissures, earthen and mineral deposits. Losses to stilt tab tips. Mite coin has clip / chip, softening and dark patina. Set in a modern stetting and wearable as pendant.
