Description
DESCRIPTION: Ten volume set of "Japan: Described and Illustrated by the Japanese" featuring a history of Japan, an essay on Japanese art by Kakuzo Okakura, and an overview and analysis of Japanese culture, all illustrated by albumen hand-colored photographs-some offsetting text, some full-page. Each volume is bound in silk and decorated on its cover with gilt lettering and gilt fenghuang ("Chinese phoenix") and cloud motifs. End pages are glittered with gold flake accenting throughout. Includes cards instructing reader not to cut pages as they are bound in the Japanese style. Set is number 72 of a 250 limited edition set.
