This is a Pre-Columbian Protoclassic Colima pottery phytomorphic vessel. Dating to circa 100 B.C.-250 A.D. Purchased from Sotheby's in thier Pre-Columbian sale #5937 held on November 20th, 1989. This lot is accompanied by the receipt for the vessel. This item is described in a certified insurance appraisal dated November 18th 2003 by Harmer Johnson, Appraisers Association of America, prepared for Marshall and Kay J. Lee.
From the Upstate New York estate of Marshall and Kay Lee. Marshall was a well known collector of Pre-Columbian pottery and a talented and well-respected book designer in the publishing industry.
