The model 1949 is a gas operated semi-automatic battle rifle designed by Dieudonne Saive in 1947. The rifle was used in numerous wars including the Korean War and Suez Crisis. The rifle features a 23" long round barrel, hard wood stock and barrel shroud, 10 shot magazine, adjustable rear pinhole sight, bayonet attachment point, and metal butt plate. The right side of the frame is marked "Fabrique Nationale D'Armes De Guerre _ Herstal Belgique" with the top of the frame stamped with a crown design. The rifle shows an operational slide action and operational trigger system and trigger safety. The rifle shows good condition overall with wear due to age and use. Serial Number: 80325. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic firearm, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
