Presented in this lot of Early Montana Photographs Including Tin Types are forty (40) late 19th century and very early 20th century photographs, thirty-three (33) of which are studio portraits taken in the Montana cities of Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, and, Missoula; seven (7) are gold gilt trimmed. Most are circa early statehood (1889) years with four (4) small carte de visite photographs dating from 1872-1881 during the Montana Territory years, and seven (7) tintype photographs, circa 1865-1870s. Also included is a photograph of a gold dredge from Bannack, Montana, circa 1895. Most photographs are in good overall condition. Tintype photographs are in fair condition, exhibiting iron oxide deterioration along with indentations. Largest photograph is 4.5"W x 6.5"L
