Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough (c. 1690) attributed to Sir Godfrey Kneller on the attached plaque. Portrait of Sarah Churchill is with her dog, of which there are several paintings in her lifetime with similar dogs. Sir Godfrey Kneller was a 1st Baronet and German-born English painter. He was a leading portraitist in England during the late Stuart and early Georgian eras, he served as court painter to successive English and British monarchs, including Charles II of England and George I of Great Britain. Oil on canvas. Wooden frame with plaque. Framed size 27" x 21.5" Sight size 21.25" x 16.5". In-house shipping available.
