German Engraving by Johann Ernst Mansfeld (German, 1739-1796) | Engraved on fine laid paper | Depicts the contrasting examples of prayer from Mathew 6:5-6: Top image depicts the prideful hypocrite from verse 5; Lower image depicts the humble sincere servant in verse 6 | Inscribed inside border lower center "Mat. VI, 5,6." Mathew 6:5-6. Inscribed lower right: "Mansfeld sc" | Germany, 18th century. Approx. Size: 7" H x 4.5" W.Matthew 6:5-6 (King James Version):5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.
