Finest quality, very large, handmade porcelain figurine of "Hadik Hussar, Field Marshal of the Hapsbu", hand-painted by the legendary Hungarian master artisans of Herend. The 18th-century Field Marshal of the Hapsburg Army, András Hadik (1710-1790), commanded Calvary soldiers known as Hussars. Herend has captured his likeness in exquisite handmade porcelain, in full regalia and accented with 24k gold, signed "K. Strobl.25", for Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobl (Hungarian, 1884-1975), bearing blue firm's mark, No. 5505/3, incised. [16" H x 7 1/2" W x 4" D]. In good condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs.
