Attributed to Charles Cordier, French African Venus bronze sculpture, Marnyhac et Cie (the commercial name used for Société des Marbres et Bronzes Artistiques de Paris, the Paris Marbles and Artistic Bronzes Society), depicts a young African woman kneeling with foliage in her hand above her head, she is dressed with a loincloth, wearing an egret and adorned with many jewels, mid 19th to late 19th c., 32" (h) x 12" x 11"
Condition
Missing Algerian onyx bowl that sat on the foliage over her head and square base with bronze and Algerian onyx mounts, portion of bronze is broken off on top, areas with some form of patina wear
